Three LG-made media phones will launch on Verizon soon, with a new touchscreen model set to appear near the anticipated launch of a next-generation iPhone, according to leaks and accompanying shots from Phone Arena. The LG Dare (also known as the VX9700) is now believed to take its cue from the normally Europe-only Prada and should represent an upgrade to the earlier device as well as a switch to Verizon's CDMA network: an enhanced 3.2-megapixel camera with a Schneider-Kreuznach lens should improve on the earlier model's photography.
The Dare will continue to use a 400x240 screen and use microSD for storage instead of its opponent's built-in flash. A launch is expected online as of July 4th and will be followed up by retail sales towards the middle of the month; the initial date comes within days of an expected revision to the iPhone that should bring the Apple device up to par or better with 3G Internet access.
Other phones coming in the next several weeks will address Verizon's more familiar audience. The Decoy (VX8610) is due on May 30th and will be uniquely communications-focused with a trackball-style pointer for navigation and a removable Bluetooth earpiece for calls. A simpler phone, the VX8560, will replace the longstanding Chocolate Flip with an external jogwheel similar to that for the current-generation Chocolate slider. It should also have a more unique two-tone color scheme and will be ready on June 24th.
