ConvenienceWare has released a v1.5 upgrade to GhostReader, its text-to-speech conversion application. The software supports multiple languages, and can read out chosen documents such as Word and PDF files, or selected text in any program. Another feature is the ability to convert text to permanent audio files, including boomarkable audiobooks for iPhones and iPods.

This conversion is a primary focus of v1.5, which now lets users export conversions to directly iTunes, a process which also runs in the background. To keep files consistent with the rest of a collection, users can also pick which format to use from among AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF and Apple Lossless.

Other changes include new Czech, Polish, Swedish and Finnish voices, as well as enhancements to existing ones. A pronunciation editor lets users alter how particular words are spoken, and Leopard users can now load DOCX and ODT files. GhostReader costs $40 and runs on Mac OS X 10.4 or better.
